North McDonough Street circa 1915

From Vanishing Dekalb Book.
Amoung the first automobiles in Decatur were these parading down McDonough Street.
in 1915, only physicians and surgeons, using their autos to answer emergency calls, were exempted from a 12 mph speed limit within the inner fire limits of the city. Outside the city there was a 15 mph speed limit-6 mph on sharp curves.

This location (today) would be in front of new court house, you can see the old court house to the left.
